Capital Legal Group, PLLC is a Washington, DC based law firm that provides contingency based patent monetization services for businesses in the United States and around the world. In short, we don't get paid unless our client receives revenues from our efforts. Our services include contingent patent licensing and sales. We are not a litigation firm although we have relationships with various litigation firms should the need for litigation arise.

Our Services:
Whether you wish to pursue sales or licensing, we will review your patents and the market place to identify the infringers. This can take weeks or months. After completing claim charts for each infringing product, we'll develop an overall strategy for the licensing or sale of the patents. After you have approved of our strategy, we'll begin implementation. For licensing, this includes contacting the infringers. However, we never contact a third party without first getting our client's approval to do so. Also, clients are free to exclude certain third parties (infringers) from the licensing program for any reason.  Once a party has indicated an interest, we'll negotiate the terms of the agreement, draft the agreement and manage the deal until closing. In summary, we handle every aspect and the client can be involved as much or as little as desired.

Our Work Product

Patent work is our bread and butter and we seek the broadest available patent scope. Unlike most firms who simply help their clients get a patent, we seek patents that have the very broadest available scope – patents of real business and economic value to our clients.

This is obviously extremely important because broader scope reduces the likelihood that competitors can design around the patent, which in turn increases licensing revenues and creates a larger barrier to competitors. So how do we do this?

We are local to the US Patent Office and conduct interviews in person with patent examiners at every opportunity. We find this instrumental in getting broad coverage.

Our clients never get a trainee working on their applications, only experienced attorneys.

Prior to coming to Capital Legal Group, our attorneys have litigated patent cases at various courts around the country, the International Trade Commission, and at the Federal Circuit. Our litigation experience helps us to be persuasive with the patent examiners and allows us to draft sound patent applications.
